Coconut Sugar

I like to mix up my sweeteners however coconut sugar definitely ranks high on my list of favourites. Made from the sap of the coconut it has an incredible caramel like flavour making it perfect for so many recipes.

The delicious taste of coconut sugar makes it one of those ingredients that will enhance your recipes adding to the flavour. I use it in cupcakes (like my Moist Maple Coconut Cupcakes and my Sticky Coffee Cupcakes,) biscuits (like my orange chocolate sandwich biscuits as well as my peanut chocolate sandwich biscuits,) chocolate (especially perfect for my Giant ‘Caramac’ Chocolate Buttons) as well as my caramel sauces like the one I use on my Apple Caramel Slice.

The method in which coconut sugar is made means that, unlike many other sweeteners, it keeps many of the nutrients that are found in coconuts. Coconut sugar is believed to contain potassium, magnesium, iron and zinc as well as bring a natural source of vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and C.
